During our Fall 2003 meeting, Will Koch, president of Holiday World amusement park in Santa Claus, IN, was kind enough to give IWRA members a behind-the-scenes look at how water is handled, cleaned, sampled, and distributed at their water park called the Splashin’ Safari. Here are some photos from the day:
- All new IWRA members must ride this.
- Another view of the initiation slide.
- Intrepid IWRA members go anywhere they must go to learn more.
- Flushless toilets are number one on the list of new conservation techniques.
- Lorraine contmpates asking for a refundĀ of her IWRA membership dues after that trip.
- Holiday World’s flume ride isn’t part of the water park. Go figure.
- The next one who comes out has to be IWRA president next year.
- Imagine the plunger you need to clear this out.
- Everyone wants to go play , but no one’s brave enough to be first.
- Will Koch, president of Holiday World, explains to Rosie that she did not pass her hydrology test … and so has to drink one of these samples as penance.
- Another water slide.
- Landing hurts less when there’s water in it.
- Next year, they’ll fill this with jello.
- The big wave pool.
- The fans that generate the waves.
- President Tracy Branam should have come out of this slide several minute ago, but apparently ate too much lunch at the Schnitzelbank Restaurant.
